Today, we will complete the immigration and drive towards Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. After checking in to your hotel in Thimphu, we will go out to explore Thimphu town in the evening. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, we will witness the magnificent Thimphu Tshechu, Bhutan’s most celebrated mask dance festivals, held at the iconic Tashichho Dzong. The vibrant costumes, sacred cham dances, and the electric atmosphere of locals and visitors gathered together make this an absolutely unforgettable experience. Following the Tshechu, we will visit Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point), the stunning 169 foot golden Buddha that watches over the Thimphu valley. We will head to Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique and rare national animal, before rounding off the day with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, a beloved landmark in the heart of the city. We will start the day with a scenic morning drive up to Dochula Pass, where 108 memorial chortens dot the hilltop and on a clear day, the snow capped Himalayas stretch beautifully across the horizon. From there, we will head down to the lush valley of Punakha, where we will cross the iconic suspension bridge swaying above the Mo Chhu river, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, and stop at the beloved Chimi Lhakhang fertility temple. As evening falls, we shall make our way back to Paro, where the rest of the night is yours to freely explore the charming town at your own pace. Overnight in Paro.
After a light breakfast, we will begin our hike up to Paro Taktsang, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most iconic and sacred sites, perched dramatically on a cliffside at 3,120m. The hike takes around four to five hours depending on your pace, with a cafeteria stop midway where you can rest and take in the breathtaking views. Once we descend, the rest of the afternoon is yours to freely explore Paro town; browse the local shops, pick up some souvenirs, or simply unwind at your own pace. Overnight in Paro
After breakfast, we will visit the famous Paro Airport viewpoint, one of the few places in the world where you can watch planes dramatically navigate through the mountains as they land and take off from one of aviation’s most challenging airports. We then begin our journey towards Phuentsholing, Bhutan’s bustling border town, stopping along the way at a beautiful waterfall and soaking in the lush scenic landscapes as we descend from the mountains. Upon arrival in Phuentsholing, settle in the hotel. Overnight in Phuntsholing.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we will check out and take a moment to soak in one last look at this magical kingdom. As we cross the border, we will bid a fond farewell to Bhutan.
